Issue 06 — New EP, and a thank-you to patrons
It's here. There's a new EP, and I'm a little overwhelmed.
"Roomtone" is five tracks, out today: listen on Bandcamp. It collects the pieces this newsletter has been orbiting all year — "Glacier Melt" is on there, remastered, plus the live one-take from April that I almost didn't keep.
It's strange to look back at six months of Modular Notes. When I sent Issue 01 in January I genuinely wasn't sure anyone would read past the first paragraph. Now there's a small room of people who reply with their own patch tweaks, who caught my sharp Plaits note and told me to leave it in, who pre-ordered an EP from a person they've never met making drones in a spare bedroom.
To the patrons especially: this EP exists because you made it feel possible. The stems you've been getting, the half-finished demos, the "is this too quiet?" emails — that's been the actual studio. Thank you. I mean it more than a sign-off can hold.
Roomtone is name-your-price. Pay nothing if money's tight; I'd rather you just hear it.
Here's to the next six months, and whatever the cables do next.
