Beacon v1.6 — Faster dashboards

New year, faster Beacon. v1.6 is all about speed: dashboards now load dramatically quicker, especially for sites with millions of monthly events.

What shipped

  • Faster dashboards: Median load time dropped from ~2.4s to under 600ms on our largest test accounts.
  • Instant date switching: Changing your date range no longer triggers a full reload — results stream in as they're ready.
  • Lighter payloads: The dashboard bundle is 40% smaller, which matters most on mobile.

Under the hood

We added a query-caching layer in front of our aggregation engine. Common rollups (top pages, referrers, daily visitors) are now precomputed and cached per site, then invalidated incrementally as new events arrive. Self-hosted instances get the same caching with zero configuration — it ships on by default in the v1.6 image. More detail in the performance notes.

What's next: team roles and permissions, so you can finally invite people without handing over the keys to everything.
